Maybury Street Traffic Calming – Have Your Say!

Residents around Aldis Street, Carlwell Street, and Maybury Street are used to their roads being a busy cut-through, used by cars wanting to avoid the traffic lights on Blackshaw Road.

However, trial traffic changes last summer installed wooden planters between Blackshaw Road and Maybury Street, dropping traffic volumes.

We’re absolutely in favour of reducing air pollution and traffic – as well as giving residents some much-needed quiet during lockdown – through schemes like these, but before they’re made permanent, it’s essential that residents are consulted. That’s why we’ve been pushing for the chance for you to have your say.

People told us that their streets were being used to avoid traffic lights, so we lobbied Wandsworth Council to get this consultation. I and my colleagues Cllrs Daley and White are delighted residents in Aldis Road, Carlwell Street and Maybury Road can have their say on changes to their streets and reduce unnecessary pollution, danger and noise in their corner of Tooting.

If you live locally, make sure you reply to the survey by 19th March 2021 so your voice is heard.” – Cllr Annamarie Critchard

The consultation offers two options for changes, plus the option to open the side roads back up to traffic. Simply go to the consultation on the Council website and add your views by 19 March 2021.
